Ajieng Deng Chol’s songs caused him serious problems in his
homeland, Sudan. He’ll show you one badly cracked nail from
the second time he was imprisoned and tortured by the oppressive
fundamentalist government for singing songs about freedom. They
pulled out his thumbnail so he could no longer strum his guitar.
But his nail grew back and he’s still strumming here in his
new home where he’s teamed up with author, Alephonsion Deng,
and his son, Angelo.
